A year ago, on January 27, 2017, on Holocaust Remembrance Day of all days, President Trump banned refugees from entering the United States.

The executive action sparked widespread outrage and protests across the country, and set off a year of legal battles, ongoing demonstrations in support of refugees, and new levels of uncertainty for those promised safety in the United States.

One year on, amidst the largest global refugee crisis since World War II, the administration continues to take actions that erode the United States’ historic protections for refugees.

To help tell the story of the first year of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program under the Trump Administration, Scott Rogowsky, host of HQ Trivia, lent his voice to a new HIAS video, A Year Later, the Fight Goes On.

The video documents why the attacks on our refugee program are even worse than you think — and how the growing movement to welcome refugees is fighting back.

Today, defending America’s legacy of welcome is more urgent than ever.

In the streets, in the courts, and on Capitol Hill, HIAS and our supporters are opposing anti-refugee measures in every way we can.
